Chuck Norris Writes About Parental Rights

You can read his column here on the recent California decision.

My favorite part of his column:

As our Founding Fathers swore to uphold these, so must we. Thomas Jefferson committed, “I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” I know others would join me in rightly assuming that in our day “every” form of tyranny could also include publicly forced educational indoctrination. Friends, while you keep one eye on our national borders, you might keep the other on your state’s. If academic corruption is easily conceived in California, how long will it take to crawl to your state line?

My warning to such creeping companies of corruption is this: Best not to test Texas. If you thought we fought hard for the Alamo, wait until you see what we can do for academia. You can hide your sleaze behind No. 2 pencils, but our branding irons will find your tail sides.

  • you gotta love chuck!

  • Dear Mr Norris It is good to hear others that have voiced their concerns about Our Government’s intrusion. My family has been distroyed by the state of Florida for not kissing their tail as you put it .And as such I have become a civil disobdent ever since. When a person or group of persons can take your children for no reason it is time for change .There is so much going on right now it would make your head spin.Live Free or Die

  • This is a most fundamental right. North Korea rips children from their parents’ arms so they can indoctrinate them for life. That’s exactly what some here in the USA want to do; it’s up to us to put a stop to it.

  • They will know us by our fruits! If these misguided dear ones would just spend a little time with our children, they would realize that what we are doing really works!!

  • In 1777, Thomas Jefferson drafted an act called “An Act for Establishing Religious Freedom“,
SECT. II. WE, the General Assembly of Virginia, do enact that no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer, on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities.

  • I totally agree w/ Chuck Norris! As a home schooling parent I am prould to be a Texan. I don’t believe it is the gov’t. job to raise our children, it is the parent’s. I also think that it is our decision on how to handle our children’s education; and what is best for our children. I think that the public schools need an overhaul because the drop out rate is at an all time high in this country; and maybe they could take some lessons from parents on how to better their system. Thanks Chuck for stepping up and speaking your opinion!

  • We need to inform all who we know and explain to them that all Tyrranical societies have programs set up to convince the young of their position. Case in point: Nazi Germany. Students were tought to devalue human life thus Millions died at their hands. Communist Russia Taught that Lenin and Stalin were living God’s, Thus tens of millions died at their hands while thier children chanted in praise.China and North Korea , Forced abortions and genocide.

I’m with Chuck, I may live in CA. But I’ve got a branding iron also

  • Good going Chuck, and thanks for the comment and your stand.

I been a homeschooler for over 19 years.
My oldest daughter is now on her own
my youngest has one more year to go.
Homeschooling IS the right of the parents, NOT the state.
I’m from Iowa, but I also have a branding Iron, Isn’t Iowa where John Wayne was from ? Right on !

  • “They will know us by our fruits! If these misguided dear ones would just spend a little time with our children, they would realize that what we are doing really works!!” A.F. posted 3/12

AF and others: They do see our fruits, and they realize what we are doing works, that is why we are a threat to them. This goes beyond academics to the battle for the souls of our children. If the enemy can take the children, there goes the family, the country, and the world. We need to realize the true motives behind these issues and stand up while we still can here in America, or we will follow suit with other areas of the world that have already lost this right.

  • The California Court ruling is in error when it states parents have no Constitutional Right to Home School. The Tenth Amendment to the U. S. Constitution states that merely because a right is not listed does not mean the people do not have that right.

Please circulate this among Home Schoolers. I have no children at home and am not a big supporter of home schooling–but I certainly am no supporter of Fascism, either. It was to prevent just this sort of Abuse of Power that the Framers put the X Amendment in there.

    Thank you,

    Take care & God bless,

  • That was beautifully and eloquently written-and so true. Let’s stand together on this all across America, where we know the true intent of our founding fathers!

  • Great going Chuck.

We as parents need to band together.

I have been homechooling for more years than I want to count. My husband and I have seven children. Five of them are now adults, doing quite well in the world.

Education of our children is our responsibility as parents. God gave each of our children to us not the state.

  • No state can remove your God given rights. I feel sorry for states that thinks it can remove rights given to us by God for there is an eternal price to pay. Thank you Chuck for standing up for whats right instead of whats popular

  • In the 1960’s God was taken out of the schools. The religion of evolution was put in. Since that time, crime unwed teen mothers, divorce, school violence ect. has risen. As parents, we must stand together to protect our rights to raise our children with our religious beliefs, and protect them from the heartache that the untrue religions can bring.
