Contact your Representative today and urge them to support the Parental Rights Amendment.

The Parental Rights Constitutional Amendment bill has just been introduced in the House of Representatives! Our bill number is H. J. Res 97. You can read the language of the bill by visiting http://thomas.loc.gov and searching for the bill number.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra introduced the proposed constitutional amendment which is designed to preserve and protect parental rights from future erosion. Preserving parental rights for generations to come is an issue that concerns every parent across this nation. That’s why now is the time to get your Congressperson to support this vital bill.

The introduction of the Parental Rights Amendment signals the opening of an important discussion in Congress. So we encourage you to begin engaging Congress on the issue of parental rights today.

TAKE ACTION NOW!

You can contact your member of Congress here.

Write, call or email with a short message urging your member of Congress to stand in support of H. J. Res 97, the Parental Rights Constitutional Amendment. Encourage them to contact Rep. Pete Hoekstra to add their name to a list of potential Co-Sponsors.

And look for more updates as we move forward with this vital effort!

  • Way to go on the introduction of the amendment. This is important legislation for families across America.

Please read the amendment so that you’re not led off-course on what the PRA is about. It’s not about saying children don’t have rights. It’s about making previous case decisions concrete for rights parents had (but are being eroded by judges legislating from the bench).

There are great parents posting on this blog. They want to continue to raise their children without unnecessary government meddling.

Get the word out of your support to your Congress leader(s)

  • log onto youtube.com and search for my profile speakerauthor. then you can send an email there. it’s right under the member’s name (the link)

A lot of people log onto youtube, from all faiths, and non-faith members. The message will reach a lot of people. Ron Paul raised millions in 24 hours that way (when he was blacklisted from television).

The more we are able to spread the word the better. And, believe the non-believers/non-supporters are also putting out their negative messages about the PRA (so we need to do all we can that’s positive as well).

  • Using the words “Christian Faith” or “Religious”(Christian Religion)(as stated by almost all christians and non-christians alike) to discribe a person who a Christian, in reality is wrong. A Christian is a person who is born-again. Did you hear that? BORN-again! This means when a Christian person is discriminated against because of their so-called “Christian Faith” they are in reality being discriminated against by BIRTH. Discrimination by race, color, sex, etc. in this country (USA) is illegal. We (born-again) Christians must state our BIRTH right to fight all discrimination. We must state that we are being discriminated against not (mainly) because of our faith, but because we are BORN this way. WE are BORN-AGAIN with a nature that is different (we can’t help what we believe) and discriminating against our birth-nature is also illegal in this country. Think about using this apporach to all discrimination against “Christians”, it would start a new era in the fight against illegal discrimination against Christians and our LIFE style, and who(se) we are.

  • Kerry, I read that post on the other blog page and that’s an interesting “view.” I just don’t think there’s a way to substantiate to the courts we’ve been born again in a way that can be recognized by law. I like the ideology though. As we protect our Constitutional rights, we’re covered already under religious beliefs.

I think if more Americans remembered their history (or learned more about it) they would be more serious about protecting our Constitution. As an adult, I can appreciate history more now. Learning about Connecticut being formed out of religious conflict (that even the Native Americans recognized), learning about the revolution and how there were three groups, supporters, opponents, and fence-sitters, learning about the arguments (and those who held out over parts of the Constitution), learning about taxation, etc., is vital to appreciating our history.

Do you think there would be enough people to have a tea party now over taxes? Have you thought about this…

If you buy some sunglasses, you pay for them once. You pay taxes on them - once. How about your bed sheets? Your dishes?. You pay taxes once. Why then are we paying taxes over and over again, year after year on our houses? If you bought it, why keeping paying taxes? How much of your salary goes to taxes? When you look at the gas tax, food/drink tax, house tax, vehicle tax, salary taxes, city-state-federal tax, etc., what do you have left? Who is ready to throw the tea overboard?

As such, if we look closely, the very thing the forefathers debated over to form our Constitution is what is still going on now.

Before parental rights change, we need to be vigilant so that the Constitution doesn’t get so watered down that families are burdened with international interference. Our children need to be protected from the illegal seizures by CPS as our Constitution protects them from.

Thanks to bloggers for getting the ball rolling on the video referenced above.

  • I am a parent being forced to send my 4 year old next Tuesday for a week long visit with my husbands mother and step-father. My husband and I were falsely accused of neglet and child endangerment after an equipment malfunction during a hospital stay. My son was ripped from my arm right in the hospital with a neighbor and friend with their son down the hall. My husband and I knew once forensics came back we would be cleared but to our horror his parents (and I use that term loosely) made allegations of Munchausen by Proxy. $200,000.00 later we got our son back but during the process the grandparents had hired an attorney filed and were granted defacto parent status and in a legal manuvior on the day the case was to close we were forced to agree to visitation 2 times a year. We have been fighting sinced that day to keep them from having visitation. When we got our son back after 6 months in their home he was 20 mo old would not speak. He would scream and point when he wanted something. He cried all night long. We relocated to Nc and our son did not see the grandparents for a year and a half. They never requested a visit but managed to find an attorney to take the agreement that was not an order in CA and got it registered here as an foreign custody order. We have ample evidence of the long history of abuse in my husbands family. His mothers sister was murdered by her abusive husband before he took his own life, and my husband has been abused by 2 of her abusive husbands including the current one. Once we were forced to let them see our son, our son began bowel holding refusing pull-up changes baths he told us he is afraid of the step-grandfather. We were also diturbed to learn from the court ordered therapist our son told her he has two mommies and two daddies one is old and one is young. Which makes explains why our son began calling me by my first name shortly after being placed in their home. I could go on and on but I guess this bill answers my prayer in a way. On the stand in our last hearing (which we lost on all fronts) I said On August 25, 2006 we were give full custody of our son back but where the paternal grandparents are concerned we have had our parental rights stripped. The last visit was altered to not allow over nights and they had to come here. We discovered after the visit was over they had planned to travel 7 hours away with him and planned to not ever tell us they were going. The order specificly states no extended automobile travel when this was uncovered in our last hearing the Judge refused to hear it because they never left with him because they could not have him over night. Tuesday he is leaving and I have no idea if I will see him again. I don’t understand how we have got to the point that parents can’t protect their children we are an intact family and the abuse issue is a non issue. My husband is working 2 jobs to pay for therapy and attorneys and we still just end up on the loosing end.

Thanks for listening I am a heart broken mother of a child in pain begging me not to go and I have to tell him you have to without saying nana and grandpa will put us in jail if we don’t send you(they already tried that with a contempt charge for not giving them contact info eventhough we recieved cards from them at our residence) we were sentenced to 30days suspended as long as we comply with all future orders.

I plan to join in the fight and become a member but right now we can’t afford the membership fee.

Any of you out there who pray remember my son next week and please say a little prayer to bring him home safely.

    Thanks again,Mamabear

  • Michael, I don’t know if I am understanding you correctly. Are you saying that a mother had a child and hid the child from you while she collected welfare? Which group of people and how is this relating to parental rights? Please explain because I don’t think I understand enough from your post. Thanks.

  • i think the government and social services is going to far in getting in the middle and deciding who’s family to interupt and who’s not to. i know severeal people who should not be allowed to have children in their custody yet there are very good people whom the government has stepped in and took their children without good cause or eveidence just because someone who was angry with them called and made a false reoprt while those children who do need help,,,they are being over looked. i think its really very sad.

  • Dawn,
You’re absolutly right. We’re going through that very situation right now. People, with out even knowing other people, have the right to state anything they want with out validation. Our laws need to become very clear and specific when it comes to children and the protection of them. As parents, we are the mercy of our schools, the state, and ignorant people. I was telling my mother the other day that the governments philosphy is more “reactive” not “pro-active”. As new parents, we are left to figure things out on our own. Read this book, take that class, try this method, etc. When we, as good parents, find a way that works for our family and it’s not agreeing with others, we’re pounced on and dragged through the mud. Any how, I’m on board with this bill. It’s time we took a stand as good parents and fight for our right.

The hypersensitivity or our nation on what consitutes as child abuse or discipline must become evidently more clear. Parents must start being treated with more respect. It’s not easy raising a child today, with all the garb out there negativly infulencing the behavior of our kids. When did parents become the enemy? I feel like parents are guilty (in any situation) until proven innocent. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? Innocent till proven guilty. Any way, can’t really explain my sitution right now. I have to protect my family. I just wanted to respond and encougage.
